Highgate, Hampstead and Titanique

London’s weather didn’t disappoint, as we woke a very grey Sunday;  at least it was dry. We headed up to Highgate to explore the cemetery, get some fresh (and brisk) air into our lungs and stretch our legs. We arrived in time to join a tour of the graves … and it was worth it. Our guide, Angie, was so entertaining and knowledgeable. We were bombarded with facts (over 150,000 burials, 50,000+ graves and she helped decode the Victorian-era symbolisms of the tombs and headstones). And we saw a fox sleeping on a tomb!

After that exploration, we plodded back up the hill to the village and enjoyed a well-deserved pub roast by a roaring fire. The lunch fortified us for a ramble over a rather boggy Hampstead Heath and a sneaky drone fly to take in a bird’s-eye view. Back into town (hitting a post-Arsenal football match crowd and traffic snarl), the clouds lifted and weak sunshine was a welcome sight.

Then it was time to head to Piccadilly Circus for our West End show – Titanique. Lots of fun, laughter and audience participation. A stroll back through night-time Soho rounded off the day.

Sunshine was our friend in the morning (I think there is a theme here regarding Vitamin D and UV! Need to ditch that subject). We went back into the West End and hit Oxford Street for some retail therapy (to fill in a few wardrobe gaps, temperature-wise). A daytime Soho visit, an amble through Leicester Square and up Piccadilly to Green Park rounded of the morning.

Back to the flat for a final luggage check and then to Heathrow for the next leg of our journey. NEW YORK!
